Alverbridge Nursery is proud to be part of the wider Gosport Community

At Alverbridge Nursery, we believe that children thrive when they feel a strong sense of belonging.

Our Nursery is more than a place to learn and play – it is a community where children, families, staff and the wider local community come together.

We value the relationships we build with our families and work closely with them to create a positive, nuturing environment where every child feels known, valued and supported.

We encourage children to take an active part in their community from an early age. Through everyday experiences, conversations, celebrations and special activities, children begin to develop an understanding of the people and the world around them.

We enjoy creating opportunities to connect with our local community, whether that’s welcoming visitors into the nursery, exploring our local area, supporting community initiatives or learning about the different people, cultures and traditions that make our community special.

Here are a few of our community interactions and projects.

Spreading the Love at Valentines Day

Some of you may have seen a recent Facebook post from a wonderful member of the Bluebird Care team, who asked whether any local nurseries would like to help spread a little love this Valentine’s Day by making cards for the elderly people they support.

We were delighted to get involved and reached out straight away to offer our support for such a meaningful cause.

Each key group — along with the team in Cygnet Room — has been busy creating a beautiful range of Valentine’s cards and pictures. These will be delivered to individuals cared for by Bluebird Care, helping to share kindness and brighten the day for members of our local elderly community.

We are so proud of the children for their thoughtful efforts and creativity in spreading joy and love to others ❤️🥰

Living Eggs Experience

During May, we took delivery of an incubator and some eggs as part of the living eggs experience
This kind donation came from Andy Geach at Shedfield Lodge Care Home. Andy donated this experience to the nursery last year and has supported us once again this year.
We can’t thank you enough Andy for this wonderful experience which the children, parents and staff absolutely loved.

GOSPORT ROAD RUNNERS DEFIBRILLATOR CAMPAIGN

Alverbridge Nursery has enjoyed a long-standing and valued partnership with the Gosport Half Marathon, with the Nursery and its children benefiting from generous donations over a number of years.

These donations have made a real and lasting difference to the children at Alverbridge, enabling us to purchase a wide range of new and much-needed resources. These have included replacement weatherproof clothing for the children, water trays, sports equipment, resources for our sensory room, as well as many other invaluable pieces of equipment that enhance the children’s learning, development and experiences.

More recently, through our continued partnership with the running club, Alverbridge Nursery was identified as an ideal location for the installation of a defibrillator. This forms part of the ongoing initiative by Gosport Road Runners to provide more easily accessible defibrillators throughout the Gosport area.

We are extremely proud to play a part in this initiative. The installation of the defibrillator not only benefits the children, families and staff at Alverbridge Nursery, but also provides an important emergency resource for the wider local community.

We would like to thank the Gosport Half Marathon, Gosport Road Runners and everyone involved in supporting this long-standing partnership. Their continued generosity and commitment to the local community have made, and continue to make, a significant difference.
